Thordon offer two choices for use in wicket gate and linkage bearing system applications depending on size and pressure
ThorPlas is a homogeneous, self-lubricating polymer bearing capable of withstanding operating pressures up to 31 MPa (4500 psi) installed in a full-form, interference-fit configuration. It is an engineered thermoplastic for high pressure applications up to 31.0 MPa (4500 psi) dynamic or 45MPa (6500 psi) static offering very low wear in non-abrasive environments.
Homogenous Thordon HPSXL incorporates friction and wear reducing additives throughout its entire molecular structure ensuring consistent performance in limited motion applications and high resistance to shock loading and vibration. It is for high pressure applications up to 55 MPa (8000 psi) dynamic or 70 MPa (10,000 psi) static peak. It’s friction coefficient is typically 0.06-0.12 dynamic
All Thordon bearings can be easily machined and sized to final dimensions on-site prior to installation or easily line bored after installation to correct misalignment and dimensional inconsistencies encountered during turbine rehabilitation.
