Environment

Thordon Bearings commitment to the environment forms the basis for many of our business decisions.

We refuse, for example, to sell propeller shaft bearings for ships if they are going to be lubricated with oil because we know the oil will ultimately leak into the sea. In doing so we consciously close the door on a vast existing market. All of our bearing systems are designed to operate with no oil or grease. If water is not used as a lubricant, we can offer our non-polluting lubricant (TL3G) that replaces oil in our Thor-Lube stern tube bearing system (see ETV certificate).

Minimizing environmental damage is a part of every capital equipment purchase we make. We do everything possible to recycle, re-use and reduce as many materials as possible, through an environmental program at our factory in Canada.

Difficult as it may be, we intend to stay the course, because the owners and employees of Thordon Bearings believe that we all can and should play whatever role we can in protecting our environment for future generations.
