Propeller Shaft Bearings
Open water lubricated propeller shaft bearing systems offer the best performance in pollution-free simplicity and reliability for navy and coast guard vessels. Thordon has developed four different bearing grades from which the optimal bearing solution for each specific application and vessel operating profile may be selected - see chart. Thordon COMPAC The Thordon COMPAC propeller shaft bearing system is the best choice for low friction, long wear life, reduced break away torque and lower acoustic signature in blue water operation. COMPAC is currently in use on Armada Argentina frigates, Australian Navy Anzac Frigates, Brazilian Navy Corvettes, Canadian Navy Frigates, Danish Navy Large Patrol Craft, Indian Coast Guard Patrol Craft, Indian Navy Aircraft Carrier, Korean Navy KDX Frigates, Swedish Navy Patrol Craft, South African Navy frigates, Malaysian Navy frigates, US Coast Guard Seagoing Buoy Tenders, US Navy Seawolf Submarines and others.
Thordon Composite
Thordon Composite propeller shaft bearings are specially formulated to provide superior wear life in very abrasive conditions, especially ideal for shallow dirty water applications, such as landing craft (LCU's). Thordon Composite bearings, operating in combination with hard coated nickel-chrome-boron shaft sleeves, have proven their ability to last at least twice as long as rubber bearings in the worst operating conditions. |
